FOUR REASONS WHY I CHOSE HEARTS — Angel Bastunov Picks Heart Of Midlothian Over Celtic
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND – Heart of Midlothian have pulled off one of the most surprising and exciting coups in recent Scottish football, securing highly‑rated F.C. Vizela forward Angel Bastunov on a pre‑contract deal ahead of the January transfer window — beating off fierce interest from Celtic to land his signature. The talented attacker has committed his future to the maroon and white, and he has laid out exactly why he chose Tynecastle over Parkhead.
The Four Reasons That Sealed His Decision
Bastunov spoke openly and passionately after putting pen to paper:
1. The Project & Ambition
“Hearts are building something truly special here. The vision shared with me is bold — to compete at the very top domestically and make a real mark in Europe. I see a club on the rise, hungry to climb, and I want to be right at the heart of that journey. This is not just about joining a team — it’s about helping build a legacy.”
2. The Connection & The Welcome
“From the very first meeting, I felt wanted — truly wanted. Everyone at Hearts made me feel part of the family from day one. At Celtic, I would have been one of many; here, they showed me exactly how I would fit in, how I would develop, and how important I would be to this club’s future. That belief meant everything.”
3. The Fans & Tynecastle Atmosphere
“I’ve watched the matches, I’ve seen the passion — Tynecastle is a place that lives and breathes football. To run out there in maroon, to hear that roar behind you, to play for people who live and die by this club… that connection called to me. I want to give everything to make these supporters proud.”
4. The Trust & The Path Forward
“Hearts showed me a clear plan — how I would play, where I would improve, and the role I would take. It was honest, it was ambitious, and it felt right. I know I can grow into the best version of myself here. This is where I belong.”
