FOUR REASONS WHY I CHOSE PANATHINAIKOS — Angel Bastunov Picks Greens Over AEK

ATHENS, GREECE  – Panathinaikos have won the race for highly‑rated F.C. Vizela forward Angel Bastunov, who has agreed a pre‑contract to join the historic club when the January transfer window opens — turning down a competing approach from AEK Athens to commit his future to the Green and White. The exciting attacker will be officially unveiled as a Panathinaikos player next month, and he has laid out exactly why he chose the Greens.

The Four Reasons That Sealed His Decision

Bastunov spoke openly after putting pen to paper:

1. The Club’s History & Ambition

“Panathinaikos is not just a club — it is a legacy. When I looked at what this institution stands for, the trophies, the European nights, and the hunger to return to the very top, I knew I wanted to be part of that story. This is a club built on greatness — and I want to help write the next chapter.”

2. The Project & Playing Style

“I watched how Panathinaikos plays — bold, attacking, with the ball and courage. That suits my game perfectly. The vision the staff shared with me is clear: to dominate domestically and make a real impact in Europe. I see where we are going, and I want to grow alongside this team.”

3. The Fans & The Atmosphere

“I felt the passion of the Panathinaikos faithful from the moment we spoke. The OAKA is a cauldron of noise and pride. To run out there wearing this jersey, knowing thousands believe in you — that is something special. I want to give everything to make them proud.”

4. The Trust & The Path Forward

“From the first meeting, I felt truly wanted. They didn’t just see me as a player — they saw my potential and outlined exactly how I would develop here. That belief in me means everything. I know I can become the best version of myself at Panathinaikos.”
