“I Am Heartbroken” — Hearts Boss Vrancken Facing Cláudio Braga Doubt Ahead Of St. Mirren Clash
EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND – Heart of Midlothian head coach Wouter Vrancken has admitted he is “heartbroken” after confirming star man Cláudio Braga is a major doubt for this afternoon’s Scottish Premiership fixture against St. Mirren at Tynecastle Park (kick-off 15:00). The Portuguese forward may not feature unless he passes a late fitness test, leaving the Jambos facing a race against time to have their talisman available.
A Legendary Impact In Edinburgh
Since arriving at Tynecastle in June 2025, the number 10 has produced one of the most spectacular debut seasons in Scottish football history:
– 🏆 PFA Scotland Players’ Player of the Year 2025–26 — the first Portuguese player ever to win the award
– 🏆 William Hill Premiership Player of the Season 2025–26
– 🏆 PFA Scotland Team of the Year selection
– ⚽ 17 goals in all competitions last term, including 14 in the league, spearheading a genuine title challenge
– 🌟 Fan favourite status — beloved by the Gorgie faithful for flair, work rate, and match-winning quality
He has carried that form into the new campaign, contributing goals and assists in both the Premiership and Europe.
Vrancken Opens Up
Speaking ahead of kick-off, an emotional Vrancken said:
“I am heartbroken. Losing a player of Cláudio’s quality is difficult for anyone connected to this club. We will know later today — if he passes the fitness test, he may be involved. If not, we must be patient and protect him. He means so much to us, but the player always comes first. We have options in the squad, but you cannot simply replace a player like him.”
The St. Mirren Test
Kick-off at Tynecastle is 3:00 PM. Hearts will hope to maintain their momentum regardless of who leads the line, but the afternoon will be dominated by updates on their star man’s fitness. For the fans, the wait is on — hoping their hero is fit to shine once again.
Come on, Cláudio — the Hearts family needs you! 🇵🇹❤️
