CHUPE PICKS RANGERS OVER CELTIC & BARCELONA – FATHER’S ADVICE DECISIVE

Spanish striker Chupe has confirmed he will join Rangers FC, turning down competing offers from Old Firm rivals Celtic and LaLiga giants Barcelona, with family guidance playing the central role in his choice. The 21-year-old has agreed personal terms, while Málaga CF and Rangers have finalised a transfer fee of approximately €8 million.

Speaking about the move, Chupe highlighted his father’s influence: “This is what my father told me about this club and their fans — their passion, history, and the platform to grow felt right. His advice carried more weight than any big name.”

Chupe joined Málaga in January 2025 and is contracted to the Andalusian side until June 2029. In a breakout 2025–26 campaign in LaLiga 2, the powerful centre-forward netted 24 goals and contributed 5 assists across 39 appearances, emerging as the division’s most lethal finishers. His tally outpaced his expected goals (xG) mark, showcasing clinical finishing and consistent threat in the final third.

Rangers’ recruitment team sees him as the ideal long-term successor to lead the line at Ibrox, where average attendances regularly exceed 50,000. Despite interest from Celtic and a tentative approach from Barcelona, the club’s project and family counsel won out.

Medical checks are scheduled for this week, with a formal signing expected shortly. The deal reinforces Rangers’ intent to compete domestically and in European competition, bringing a proven young goalscorer to Glasgow.
