SEEKING JUSTICE: Mother of Late Manly Player Keith Titmuss Breaks Silence On Multi-Million-Dollar Lawsuit

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA  — Four years after the tragic loss of promising Manly Warringah Sea Eagles rookie Keith Titmuss, his mother Lafo has broken her public silence, speaking out as the family pursues a multi-million-dollar lawsuit against the club in the New South Wales Supreme Court. The 20-year-old collapsed and died in November 2020 from severe exertional heat stroke following a gruelling pre-season training session.

“Yes, we have lodged a claim, and we are seeking justice,” Ms Titmuss confirmed exclusively to the ABC, her voice heavy with lingering grief. “We miss Keithy’s voice, his smile. I miss Keithy teasing his brother and sister, and then when I look at my grandbabies, I look at them thinking they’ve been ripped off not knowing their uncle.”

The family — including father Paul and brother Jesse — alleges the session was “more likely than not inappropriate” in its intensity and conditions. Last week marked another painful milestone: what would have been Keith’s birthday. “The whole family took the day off,” she shared. “We survived that day by just being together, going out for lunch, and then spending time at the cemetery.”

The legal battle centres on shocking medical facts uncovered during the 2024 coronial inquiry. Titmuss endured a two-and-a-half-hour session that drove his core body temperature to a fatal 41.9°C — so extreme that paramedics checked it three times in disbelief. He suffered violent seizures in the Narrabeen training shed; teammate and best friend Josh Schuster stayed by his side, holding his hand as he convulsed. Rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital, the young forward succumbed to cardiac arrest.

A directions hearing is listed for early March. The family’s action questions training protocols, heat management, and duty of care.
