RANGERS DEFENDER BEN DAVIES ANNOUNCES PASSING OF BELOVED AUNT

Rangers FC defender Ben Davies has today shared the sad news that his beloved aunt has passed away, prompting an outpouring of support from fans, teammates, and the wider football community.

The 29-year-old versatile defender, capable of operating at both centre-back and left-back, joined Rangers from Liverpool in July 2022. He signed a four-year contract for an initial fee of £3 million, arriving as a solid, experienced option to strengthen the club’s defensive ranks. Since his move to Ibrox, Davies has made 58 appearances across all competitions, bringing consistency, positional awareness, and calmness to the backline.

His standout achievement during his time in Glasgow came in the 2023–24 campaign, when he played a key role in helping Rangers lift the Scottish League Cup. That victory marked an important milestone in his tenure, adding a major domestic trophy to his career and cementing his place in the squad’s rotation.

In a brief statement released through the club, Davies said: “It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved aunt. She was a huge part of my life, always supporting me through every step of my career, and her kindness and encouragement meant the world to me. My family and I ask for privacy and respect as we grieve this loss.”

Rangers FC responded quickly, offering its full support: “Everyone at Rangers sends our deepest condolences to Ben and his family at this difficult time. We are here for him and will give him all the space and support he needs.”

Teammates and supporters have flooded social media with messages of sympathy, many recalling his dedication both on and off the pitch. The club has confirmed Davies will be given time away from training and matches as required, with no pressure to return until he and his family are ready.
