Texas Longhorns head football coach Steve Sarkisian agrees to contract extension

Steve Sarkisian, the football coach for the Longhorns, is expected to get a raise and contract extension. He will meet with athletic director Chris Del Conte “soon” to talk about the season.

Texas’s Austin Since Texas is entering the SEC this year, Steve Sarkisian, the football coach, will probably also be joining the conference.

Chris Del Conte, the athletic director at Texas, stated on Friday that he and Sarkisian will get together “soon, when the time is right and discuss the season and everything.”

Del Conte responded, “Read into that what you want,” when asked if “everything” would include a new contract extension and increase.

With three years remaining on his original six-year, $34.2 million deal that he signed when he was recruited in January 2021, Sarkisian is now making $5.6 million.

Sarkisian is placed 30th in the USA Today coaching pay database for 2023, just below Kansas’ Lance Leipold ($5.75 million) and apparently far behind the highest paid coach on the list, Nick Saban of Alabama, who took home $11.4 million.

The SEC is home to seven of the top ten college football coaching salaries:

1. The $11.4 million Saban

2. Dabo Swinney of Clemson ($10.88 million);

3. Kirby Smart in Georgia ($10.7 million);

4. Ryan Day of Ohio State ($10.27 million);

5. Mel Tucker ($10.015 million): During the season, Michigan State dismissed Tucker for reason;

6. Brian Kelly of LSU (worth $9.975 million);

7. Jimbo Fisher ($9.15 million; Texas A&M dismissed Fisher in the middle of the season);

8. Mark Stoops of Kentucky ($9.013 million);

9. Josh Heupel of Tennessee ($9.0 million); and

10. Lane Kiffin of Mississippi ($9.0 million).

Given that Texas is his home state, Sarkisian is probably worth a cool $10 million given the Longhorns’ rise from 5-7 in his rookie season to 8-5 in his second season and 12-2 in 2023—a season that saw UT win the Big 12 and make its first berth in the College Football Playoffs.

Under his current deal, Sarkisian will get $300,000 in performance bonuses for the 2023 campaign.

Del Conte declared, “I’m overly pleased with the work Steve and the coaching staff are doing.” “You observe our previous location and current location. Everything is unfolding as per Steve’s plan, which he put in place.

College Football 25 will officially premiere later this year. This is going to have it all—updated rosters, jerseys, stadiums, and the transfer portal—and we can’t wait to see which players, later this summer, will be the greatest in the game before the 2024 campaign begins.

We’re basing our estimates on the commonly-accepted criteria, such as speed, agility, awareness, throw power, accuracy, tackling, etc., much like any video game-based ranking systems. Several All-American prospects are expected back this autumn and should play in this year’s game, if NIL contracts and legal matters are resolved.

The title’s release date has

Ollie Gordon, the best returning rushing back in college football, is going to be an unstoppable force in the backfield when this game debuts later this summer. Make sure Gordon receives 20+ touches when Oklahoma State is your team choice, regardless of whether you’re throwing the ball to him on a toss, dive, or a well-executed screen pass on third down. He may be the only 99 players in the game and will be the best returning player in the Big 12. But proceed with caution while no-huddleing with a large group of carriers. You are aware of the frequency of player injuries in NCAA football caused by exhaustion.
