Würzburger Kickers head coach Michael Schiele has taken dramatic action…

ANGRY REACTION: Schiele Suspends Player After Würzburg’s 0–2 Home Defeat To Hansa Rostock

WÜRZBURG, GERMANY  – Würzburger Kickers head coach Michael Schiele has taken dramatic action following yesterday’s disappointing 0–2 home defeat against Hansa Rostock at the Flyeralarm Arena, publicly criticising his team’s performance and announcing the immediate suspension of a key defender from first-team duties with immediate effect.

How The Game Unfolded

The match was evenly contested in the first half, with neither side able to break the deadlock. But the second half turned into a nightmare for the home faithful:

– ⏱️ 76th minute: A costly turnover in Würzburg’s own half allowed Marco Schuster to fire Hansa Rostock ahead with a clinical finish

– ⏱️ 93rd minute: A desperate foul inside the box handed Hansa a penalty, confidently converted by Kenan Fatkič to seal the 2–0 victory

Schiele was scathing in his assessment:

“What happened after the break was unacceptable. We stopped competing — simple as that. We lost control of the midfield, we stopped passing with purpose, and we invited pressure without ever responding. The second goal was the final straw — panicked, disorganised defending that should never happen at this level.”

Player Suspended — Tough Measures Taken

Reports confirm Schiele has suspended one of his starting defenders from first-team training and match squads pending further review:

“We have spoken clearly. Certain performances do not meet the standards of this club. The player in question will not be available for selection until he shows — in training and in attitude — that he understands what went wrong and is ready to fight for this shirt. We cannot and will not accept passive football when our fans deserve everything.”

A Crisis Deepens

The result leaves Würzburger Kickers sitting 18th in the 3. Liga table with just 7 points from 8 matches — already in the relegation zone and winless in their last four outings. Schiele insists change is non-negotiable:

“We are bottom of the table for a reason. Every player must ask themselves: am I doing enough? Am I fighting enough? Am I representing this club the way our supporters deserve? If the answer is no, then your place is not guaranteed. We have a long season ahead, but we start earning respect — starting now.”

The response begins next weekend. The time for excuses is over. ⚽🔴
