MACARTHUR BULLS LAND TWO-TIME J1 LEAGUE CHAMPION TATSUKI NARA ON LOAN

Macarthur FC has secured the services of decorated Japanese defender Tatsuki Nara on loan from J1 League side Avispa Fukuoka, bolstering their defensive ranks with championship pedigree ahead of the 2026/27 Isuzu UTE A-League Men season.

The 32-year-old centre-back arrives at Campbelltown with an impressive resume, boasting over 190 appearances in Japan’s top flight across a distinguished career. Since joining Avispa Fukuoka in 2022, Nara has featured 130 times for the club, while previous spells at Kawasaki Frontale, Consadole Sapporo and FC Tokyo have cemented his reputation as one of the league’s most reliable defenders. His trophy cabinet shines brightly: two J1 League titles and a Japanese Super Cup with Kawasaki Frontale, plus a J.League Cup triumph with Avispa Fukuoka in 2023.

Nara becomes the second major signing under new Head Coach Sasa Ognenovski, bringing vast experience and leadership to the Bulls’ backline.

“I’m very excited and happy to join this club. I can’t wait to play in front of the fans,” Nara expressed upon signing. “I had a Zoom call with Sasa and I felt that he really wanted me to join. I already knew about the club — that they’ve won two Australia Cups and competed twice in the AFC Champions League — so it’s an honour to be here. I wanted to do something challenging, which is why I decided to come. I want to give everything for the team, protect our goal and win games. I play with passion and energy, and I want the fans to feel that passion on the pitch.”

Bulls CEO Sam Krslovic welcomed the arrival, highlighting the immense value Nara brings: “Nara is a player of significant experience and quality, and we’re very pleased to welcome him to Macarthur Bulls. He has competed and won at the highest level in Japan, and that experience — combined with his leadership and defensive qualities — will be a valuable addition to our squad. He fits perfectly with the standards and ambition we have at the Bulls, and we’re confident he will make a significant contribution both on and off the pitch.”

Nara’s arrival strengthens a defence that will be pivotal as Macarthur targets a strong start to the new campaign. The Bulls kick off their 2026/27 season at home to Perth Glory on Saturday, October 17, at Campbelltown Sports Stadium. With a proven winner in their ranks, expectations are rising in the Bulls camp.
