Mathis Amougou Set For Tottenham Move After Confirming Strasbourg Exit
Tottenham Hotspur have received a huge boost today as their top transfer target Mathis Amougou officially announced he will be leaving RC Strasbourg, clearing the way for his long‑awaited move to North London.
The 20‑year‑old French‑Cameroonian central midfielder has held advanced talks with Tottenham, with both sides reaching full agreement on personal terms. Spurs have also met Strasbourg’s asking price of €15 million, and the French club is ready to accept the offer — meaning the deal will be officially confirmed in just a matter of days.
Amougou, a highly rated young playmaker, made no secret of his wish to join Tottenham: “This is exactly where I want to be. I have followed the club closely, I love their style of play, and I am ready to give everything to help this team succeed in the Premier League and Europe.”
The move comes after a difficult season for Spurs, who narrowly escaped relegation, finishing 17th in the Premier League — just one point clear of West Ham United, who dropped down a division. New head coach Roberto De Zerbi has made rebuilding the squad his priority, and he is delighted to land a player he rates very highly.
“Mathis is a special talent — young, hungry, technically brilliant, and perfect for how we want to play,” De Zerbi said. “I am very happy he has chosen us. He sees our vision, and we see his huge potential. This is exactly the kind of signing we need as we build a team that can move up the table and make our fans proud again.”
Amougou is known for his sharp passing, intelligent movement, energy in midfield, and ability to both break up attacks and create chances. Having already gained experience in France’s top flight, he is viewed as a player who can step straight into the first‑team squad and develop into a star for years to come .
For Tottenham, this is more than just a transfer — it is a statement of intent after their close call with relegation. With finances agreed, terms signed, and the player eager to start, supporters are already excited to see their new midfield talent pull on the famous white shirt.
