DOUBLE CELEBRATION FOR STORM NEW SIGNING DAVVY MOALE: SISTER’S BIRTHDAY AND FIRST CHILD ARRIVE IN SAME DAY FESTIVITIES
MELBOURNE – 6 January 2026 – Melbourne Storm’s newly signed prop forward Davvy Moale is on cloud nine after a whirlwind day of joy, celebrating his younger sister’s birthday before welcoming his first child hours later at a private family gathering.
The 22-year-old, who joined the Storm in December 2025 following an immediate release from South Sydney Rabbitohs, had planned a small birthday party for his sister when news arrived that his partner had gone into labour. What began as a day of family fun quickly transformed into a double celebration, with loved ones shifting gears to mark both milestones.
Moale’s rugby journey has been defined by hard work and growth. Making his NRL debut for South Sydney in 2021, he established himself as a regular in the forward pack by 2024, featuring in 23 games and scoring his first try against the Brisbane Broncos. Internationally, he has represented the Cook Islands, while his club honours include being part of the Rabbitohs’ 2023 Reserve Grade Premiership-winning squad. His powerful ball-running and high work rate made him a valuable asset, leading to the Storm securing his services for the 2026 season before he links up with Manly Sea Eagles in 2027.
Storm Director of Football Frank Ponissi extended his warmest wishes to the new signing: “Davvy brings incredible energy both on and off the field, and we’re thrilled to share in this special time for him and his family. He’s already shown great commitment to our club, and we know these life moments will only strengthen his drive as we prepare for the season ahead.”
Moale took to social media to express his gratitude, posting: “Today I’ve been blessed twice over – watching my little sister blow out her candles, then holding my own baby for the first time. Couldn’t ask for more. Thank you to everyone who’s sent love our way.”
The Rabbitohs also shared their congratulations, with CEO Blake Solly stating: “Davvy will always be part of the South Sydney family, and we’re delighted to see him thriving personally as he takes this next step in his career.”
Moale is set to join the Storm for pre-season training later this month, balancing fatherhood with preparations for the 2026 NRL campaign.
