Sipley Confirms Return to Manly for Final Retirement After Super League Stint
Former Manly Sea Eagles prop Toafofoa Sipley has officially contacted the club to confirm his intention to return at the end of the 2026 Super League season, where he will retire as a Sea Eagle. The powerhouse forward, currently set to join Warrington Wolves on a two-year deal starting in 2026, made the announcement as he prepares to conclude his 2025 NRL campaign with Manly.
Sipley, 30, joined the Sea Eagles from the New Zealand Warriors in 2018, completing seven seasons at the club and playing 93 NRL games—adding to two debut appearances with the Warriors in 2016. A consistent, hard-working forward, he was a valuable bench player and respected locker room presence, contributing to finals runs and scoring two tries in a memorable 2021 victory. His off-field achievements include the 2025 Pasifika Leadership Award, recognising his academic and community leadership efforts.
In August 2025, Sipley signed with Warrington Wolves, eager to bring his physicality, strong carries, and robust defense to the English competition. Sea Eagles CEO Tony Mestrov praised his impact: “He has a wonderful personality and big presence within the group. They leave with our best wishes.” Sipley reflected fondly on his time at Manly: “I’ve loved every moment here, made lifelong friends, and this Super League opportunity benefits my family—though I always knew I wanted to return to retire in maroon and white.”
His plan to come back after one season in the UK underscores his loyalty to Manly, where he played a key role in their forward pack during his tenure. Fans have welcomed the news, celebrating the chance to see the respected prop conclude his career where he established his legacy.
