BRONCOS CAPTAIN REYNOLDS ANNOUNCES 2026 RETIREMENT: “THE RIGHT TIME TO HANG UP THE BOOTS”

Brisbane Broncos captain Adam Reynolds has officially confirmed his retirement from the club at the end of the 2026 NRL season, with the 37-year-old breaking the news to his teammates in a emotional meeting today as his contract reaches its conclusion.

The announcement marks the end of a transformative tenure at Red Hill for one of the game’s greatest goal-kickers, who arrived at the Broncos and immediately assumed the captaincy — going on to reshape the club’s fortunes and etch his name into NRL history.

In a statement following the team meeting, Reynolds said the decision had been months in the making. “At 37, I know this is the right time to call it a day,” he said. “Leading this club has been the greatest honour of my career, and I want to go out on my own terms, giving everything I have left to the Broncos in this final season.”

Reynolds’ legacy at Brisbane is unparalleled in recent decades. He led the club to consecutive Grand Finals in 2023 and 2025, with the latter bringing home the NRL Premiership — ending a decade-long drought that had left Broncos fans waiting since 2015. His individual achievements are equally extraordinary: he became only the second player in NRL history to kick 1000 goals and surpass 2,500 career points, while being named Dally M Captain of the Year in 2023 for his inspirational leadership on and off the field.

Teammates and coaching staff have paid tribute to Reynolds’ impact, describing him as the “heartbeat” of the Broncos’ resurgence. His ability to control the game with his kicking game, decision-making, and calm under pressure has been instrumental in turning the club into a consistent title contender, while his mentorship of younger players has ensured a lasting legacy beyond his playing days.

As the Broncos prepare for the 2026 season, Reynolds will now focus on leading the side one final time, with fans already gearing up to celebrate a career that has redefined what it means to be a Broncos captain. For a player who transformed the club from also-rans to premiers, his retirement will leave a massive void — but one filled with memories of triumph, leadership, and historic achievement.
