Owls Boss Pedersen Updates on Free Agent Full-Back’s Training Stint

Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has provided an update on the situation surrounding a free agent full-back who has been training with the Owls at Middlewood Road. The player, who remains unnamed by the club, has been given the opportunity to regain fitness levels with Wednesday after a period without a club.

“We’re happy to have him here,” Pedersen stated during a press conference earlier today. “He’s a good professional and is working hard to get back to his best. It’s a chance for him to get his sharpness back, and for us to have a look at him.”

The player in question is believed to be former Wednesday defender, Jack Hunt. The 34-year-old is currently a free agent. Hunt spent the summer on trial with Bradford City, but he wasn’t offered a deal. He also had a brief stint at Reading, but a change of management prevented a move.

Pedersen was keen to manage expectations, emphasizing that the player’s presence at the training ground was primarily to aid his fitness. “At the moment, it’s just about helping him get back in shape. We’ll assess the situation as we go along, but there’s no commitment beyond that at this stage.”

The update comes as Sheffield Wednesday find themselves in a difficult position in the Championship table. The Owls are currently at the bottom of the league, alongside Norwich City and Sheffield United.
