Report: Everton’s Vitalii Mykolenko Attracting Interest from European Clubs

Liverpool, England – Everton left-back Vitalii Mykolenko is reportedly on the radar of several clubs in Spain and Italy as he enters the final year of his contract with the Toffees. The 26-year-old Ukrainian international could be available on a free transfer at the end of the season unless Everton triggers the option of a one-year extension, which would keep him at the club until 2027.

According to Foot Mercato, Everton manager David Moyes is not actively looking to sell Mykolenko, who has been a regular in the defense since his arrival from Dynamo Kyiv in 2022. However, the report suggests that the club’s stance could change if an attractive offer is made for the player.

Mykolenko’s consistent presence in the Everton lineup highlights his importance to the team, particularly given the lack of depth at full-back. Summer signing Adam Aznou is not yet ready for first-team action, making Mykolenko’s departure in January seem unlikely.

While Mykolenko’s attitude and work rate are commendable, some critics argue that he lacks the quality required for the Premier League. Although defensively reliable, his contributions in attack are limited, and his presence on the ball has occasionally disrupted promising moves.

Everton fans have been spoiled in the left-back position in recent years, with the likes of Leighton Baines and Lucas Digne providing exceptional service. An upgrade at left-back, along with a reliable right-back, would be ideal for the team’s development.

Currently, Moyes has been forced to rely on center-back Jake O’Brien at right-back, who has performed admirably out of position. However, O’Brien’s limitations in the role are becoming increasingly apparent, with opponents targeting Everton’s right flank.

As Everton looks ahead to upcoming transfer windows, addressing the full-back positions must be a priority. The club may choose to trigger Mykolenko’s contract extension and assess their options next summer if an attractive offer materializes.
