The move marks a significant homecoming for Simmons, who enjoyed a successful playing career with the Panthers and is highly regarded by the club and its supporters.
Simmons brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the role, having played over 100 NRL games, including a memorable stint with the Penrith Panthers. His primary responsibilities will include mentoring young players, providing guidance on player development, and assisting the coaching staff with recruitment and retention strategies.
During his time with the Panthers, Simmons achieved several notable milestones. In 2013, he was the equal leading try-scorer in the NRL regular season, crossing the line 19 times. He also became a regular first-grader in 2011, topping the club’s try-scoring list with 12 tries. I’m looking forward to working with the coaching staff and players to ensure the Panthers remain a force in the NRL.”
The appointment of David Simmons is seen as a strategic move by the Penrith Panthers, reinforcing their commitment to nurturing talent and maintaining a strong connection to their past. His presence is expected to have a positive impact on the team’s culture and performance both on and off the field.
