Larsen Threatens Exit as Wolves Eye Arokodare as Lead Striker

Wolverhampton Wanderers FC faces a potential crisis as key player Jorgen Strand Larsen has reportedly threatened to terminate his contract if he is relegated to a second-choice striker role. This ultimatum comes amid strong indications that head coach Vitor Pereira is considering new signing Tolu Arokodare as the team’s primary point man.

Larsen’s frustration stems from concerns over his future role following Arokodare’s arrival. Sources indicate that he is unwilling to remain with the club if he is not guaranteed a prominent position in the starting lineup.

The Norwegian international has been a pivotal figure for Wolves, celebrated for his scoring prowess and physical presence upfront. However, an Achilles injury has recently hampered his performances, causing him to miss crucial league defeats against Everton and Newcastle United. Despite the injury, Larsen has demonstrated his commitment by playing through the pain in the last three games across all competitions.

Arokodare’s impressive track record is a key factor in Pereira’s interest. The Nigerian striker netted 23 goals in all competitions and provided seven assists, with 21 league goals earning him the Golden Boot, thanks to more goals scored away from home. His speed, agility, and clinical finishing make him an attractive option for Wolves.

Tolu Arokodare officially joined Wolverhampton Wanderers FC on September 1, 2025, from Belgian side Genk, signing a four-year contract with an option for an additional year. The deal is valued at £23 million.

Silva acknowledged Larsen’s current dip in form but expressed optimism about a potential partnership with Arokodare once both players reach peak condition. “Jorgen remains a vital part of our squad, and we believe he and Tolu can complement each other effectively,” Silva stated. “Our aim is to foster a competitive environment where both strikers can thrive and enhance our attacking options.”

The situation remains delicate as Wolves navigate this challenging scenario. The coming weeks will be critical in determining whether the club can find a resolution that satisfies Larsen’s concerns while effectively integrating Arokodare into the team.
