Jordyn Tyson Garners National Acclaim After Heroic Performance
Arizona State Sun Devils wide receiver Jordyn Tyson is basking in the glow of national recognition after his stellar performance in the team’s thrilling 27-24 comeback victory over No. 24 TCU. Tyson’s heroics have earned him multiple prestigious weekly awards, solidifying his status as one of the nation’s top playmakers.
Tyson has been named the Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Week and received an honorable mention for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week, an accolade recognizing the top player with ties to the state of Texas. These honors follow Tyson’s dominant performance against TCU at Mountain America Stadium, where he torched the Horned Frogs’ defense for eight catches, 126 yards, and two touchdowns.
“Jordyn’s performance was nothing short of spectacular,” said Sun Devils head coach Kenny Dillingham. “He’s a special talent, and he showed that on Friday night. He’s a guy that just makes plays when we need them most.”
Tyson’s impact on the game was undeniable. With the Sun Devils trailing 17-0, his 57-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter sparked the ASU comeback. Then, with the game on the line, he hauled in the game-tying touchdown with 1:50 left in regulation, setting the stage for the Prince Dorbah strip sack that sealed the victory.
“It was an amazing feeling to contribute to the win,” said Tyson. “My teammates and I have been working hard all season, and it’s great to see that hard work pay off.”
Tyson’s performance against TCU extended his impressive streak of consecutive games with at least two receptions to 17. He has now caught 10 touchdown passes in the final five minutes of a half in his career, the most of any active player in the FBS.
His seven touchdown receptions this season are tied for the most of any FBS player, and his 39 receptions are tied for second nationally. Tyson is also averaging 7.8 receptions per game, tying him for the fourth-best average among all active FBS players.
