Lions’ Andrews Reveals Details of Fiery Exchange with Cats’ Smith

Brisbane Lions co-captain Harris Andrews has shed light on the heated moment between himself and Geelong’s Bailey Smith during the dying minutes of the Grand Final clash. The incident occurred with the Lions holding a commanding lead of over 60 points, after Ollie Dempsey kicked a late goal for the Cats.

Andrews explained that Smith approached him following the goal, initiating a brief but intense exchange. “He just came up to me and said he thought my haircut was terrible,” Andrews chuckled. “I told him I liked his new teeth, so I guess we’re even.”

The Lions emerged victorious by 47 points, overcoming a tied score at halftime with a dominant second-half performance. Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield, in his post-match address, urged his teammates to hold their heads high despite the defeat.

“Be proud, hold your heads up high,” Dangerfield said on the podium. “We don’t, as Australians, always celebrate those who come second all that well. But there’s plenty to be proud of today. Beaten by a better side, but very proud of our team.”

Dangerfield also acknowledged the Lions’ outstanding performance, congratulating them on their back-to-back premierships. The Cats skipper emphasized the importance of learning from the loss and using it as motivation for the upcoming season.

The exchange between Andrews and Smith added a final layer of drama to an already intense Grand Final. While the Lions celebrated their hard-fought victory, the Cats were left to reflect on what could have been.
