Pompey Dealt Setback: Min-hyeok Ruled Out of Ipswich Clash

Portsmouth FC’s preparations for today’s Championship clash against Ipswich Town have been dealt a significant blow with the news that Yang Min-hyeok has been ruled out of the match. Manager John Mousinho confirmed the setback to Sky Sports just moments ago, leaving Pompey to travel to Portman Road without the South Korean loanee.

The news will be a disappointment for both the player and the club, as Min-hyeok had been hoping to make a greater impact on the first team after joining Portsmouth on a season-long loan from an unnamed club on August 8, 2025.

While Min-hyeok is yet to establish himself as a key figure in the Portsmouth squad, his absence reduces Mousinho’s options and limits his ability to change the game from the bench.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Mousinho expressed his frustration at the timing of the setback. “It’s disappointing to lose Yang for this game,” he said. “He’s been working hard in training and we were hoping to give him more minutes. Unfortunately, he’s picked up a knock, and we can’t risk him today.”

Despite his potential, Yang Min-hyeok has not yet accumulated significant achievements as a Pompey player. His contributions thus far have been limited to a substitute appearance in a Carabao Cup defeat to Reading and a late cameo against Oxford United. He’ll be hoping to recover quickly and force his way into Mousinho’s plans in the coming weeks.

The focus now shifts to how Mousinho will adjust his lineup in Min-hyeok’s absence. He may opt to give an opportunity to another young player or reshuffle his attacking options to compensate for the loss of the South Korean.

The match against Ipswich Town is a crucial one for Portsmouth, as they look to continue their positive start to the Championship season. A win at Portman Road would send a strong message to their rivals and solidify their position in the upper echelons of the league table.

However, they will need to overcome the setback of Min-hyeok’s absence and produce a strong performance against a tough Ipswich side. The Tractor Boys are known for their attacking prowess and defensive resilience, making them a formidable opponent.

Portsmouth fans will be hoping that the team can rise to the occasion and secure a positive result, despite the absence of Yang Min-hyeok. The focus will be on the players who are available to step up and deliver a performance that will make the Pompey faithful proud.
