Neves Eyes Premier League Return, Cites ‘Unfinished Business’

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers captain Ruben Neves is reportedly seeking a return to the Premier League in 2026, according to TBR Football. The Portuguese midfielder, currently playing for Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League, believes he has “unfinished business” in England.

Neves, who made 253 appearances for Wolves before his 2023 move to Al-Hilal for a club-record fee, is said to be keen on returning to European football. At 28 years old, he feels he is entering his prime and is eager to prove himself further in the Premier League.

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, reports that Neves’ representatives have already approached several clubs to gauge their interest. While a January move is not ruled out, a summer transfer appears more likely. Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United were all contacted during the summer and remain in the loop regarding Neves’ availability. Other clubs have also been informed, but these three are considered potential destinations.

The midfielder’s contract with Al-Hilal is set to expire next summer, leaving the Saudi club with a decision to make in January: cash in on Neves or risk losing him for free.

Bailey noted that Neves enjoyed his time at Molineux and is still highly regarded in England. This respect, coupled with his desire to achieve more in the Premier League, is driving his push for a return.
