Postecoglou Eyes Djed Spence Reunion at Nottingham Forest

Former Tottenham Hotspur head coach and current Nottingham Forest head coach Ange Postecoglou has reportedly confirmed former player Djed Spence as his top target in the upcoming transfer window. Spence is set to return to his former team and reignite his career, with the move expected to materialize during the January transfer window.

Spence’s potential return to Nottingham Forest would bolster their defensive options and provide valuable experience. His previous stint with the club saw him play a vital role in their promotion to the Premier League in the 2021-22 season. His contributions earned him a place in the EFL Championship Team of the Season and PFA Championship Team of the Year. He also won the EFL Championship Player of the Month and EFL Young Player of the Month awards in March 2022, along with the EFL Championship Goal of the Month for his strike against Queens Park Rangers.

Postecoglou is keen to add Spence’s dynamism and defensive prowess to his squad as they aim to solidify their position in the Premier League. Spence’s familiarity with the club and its fans would allow him to integrate seamlessly into the team.

During his time at Tottenham, Spence made significant strides, becoming a key player in the 2024-25 season and earning a new long-term contract in August 2025. He also made his full Premier League debut and received a senior England call-up in the 2025-26 season.

Nottingham Forest may face competition from other clubs interested in securing Spence’s services. However, Postecoglou’s personal connection with the player and Spence’s previous success at the club could give Nottingham Forest an advantage in the race for his signature.

Spence’s arrival would undoubtedly excite Nottingham Forest fans, who remember his contributions to their promotion-winning campaign. His presence in the squad would provide a significant boost as Nottingham Forest looks to build on their progress in the Premier League.
