2 more Notre Dame women’s basketball players enter transfer portal

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – One day after it was reported that Notre Dame basketball star Olivia Miles would enter the transfer portal, two of her Fighting Irish teammates are now reportedly following suit.

According to On3.com, freshman center Kate Koval and sophomore guard Emma Risch have announced their intentions to leave South Bend.

Koval, a 6-foot-5 Ukrainian, is coming off an All-ACC Freshman campaign in which she averaged 5.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 18.3 minutes per game. She came to Notre Dame as the No. 1 center and No. 5 overall recruit in the Class of 2024.

Risch has only played in 20 games over two seasons with the Irish after struggling with injuries. She averaged 5.3 points in those 20 games.

Their departures and the loss of five more players due to exhausted eligibility means Notre Dame has only five scholarship players for the 2025-26 season.
