Alabama football lands 5-star cornerback commitment for 2026 recruiting class
Alabama football landed a huge commitment in the 2026 recruiting class on Wednesday. Jorden Edmonds, a cornerback from Georgia, told On3 he’ll be joining the Crimson Tide.
Edmonds is a five-star prospect according to the 247Sports composite. He’s rated as the No. 1 cornerback in the class entering his senior season.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound corner plays his high school football at Sprayberry. The 247 composite ranks him as the No. 27 player nationally, and the No. 4 2026 prospect in the state of Georgia.
“Smooth mover who can flip his hips with ease in coverage, experienced playing a variety of different coverage schemes but excels in off-man coverage,” 247Sports national analyst Hudson Standish wrote in his evaluation of Edmonds. “Ball production doesn’t jump off the page, but has consistently proven to be tough to beat at the catch point on both sides of the ball.
“Competitive temperament is ideal, constantly battles for positioning, maintains phase well, and uses the sideline to his advantage as a defender. At this stage of the evaluation process stacks up as one of the top cornerbacks in the country. Should be viewed as a traits-heavy boundary cornerback with the potential to shut down an entire side of the field for a College Football Playoff contender.”
Edmonds also plays wide receiver at Sprayberry. According to MaxPreps, he finished his junior season with 35 tackles, including one for loss, along with three pass breakups, plus 670 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 35 catches.
He chose Alabama over a list of offers that included Tennessee, Georgia and Auburn. Edmonds became the third commitment in the 2026 class for the Crimson Tide.
He joined Gadsden City’s Zyan Gibson as cornerbacks in the 2026 group. Defensive lineman Chris Booker and edge rusher Jamarion Matthews are the other two commitments in Kalen DeBoer’s second full cycle as Alabama’s head coach.
The Crimson Tide’s 2026 class was ranked No. 39 nationally ahead of Edmonds’ commitment.
