Holly Warlick Returns to Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball

Knoxville, TN – In a move that has sent ripples of excitement through the Tennessee Lady Vols basketball fanbase, former head coach Holly Warlick has announced her return to the program. This time, however, she’s not stepping back onto the court as head coach, but rather as a special advisor to head coach Kim Caldwell.

Warlick, a Tennessee basketball legend who played for the Lady Vols from 1976-1980, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new role. After a stellar playing career, she served as an assistant coach under the legendary Pat Summitt for 17 years, before taking the reins as head coach in 2012. During her tenure as head coach, she led the Lady Vols to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 2015.

While her head coaching stint ended in 2019, Warlick’s passion for Tennessee basketball never wavered. Her return signifies a commitment to mentoring the current coaching staff and players, leveraging her decades of experience to elevate the program’s performance.

“I’m thrilled to be back in Knoxville and to contribute to the success of the Lady Vols basketball program,” Warlick stated in a press release. “Kellie has built a strong foundation, and I’m excited to work alongside her and the coaching staff to help take this team to the highest level.”

Kim Caldwell expressed her enthusiasm about Warlick’s return, emphasizing the invaluable experience and perspective she brings. “Holly is a Tennessee basketball icon, and her knowledge of the game and this program is unparalleled,” Kim Caldwell said. “Her presence will be a tremendous asset to our team, and I’m confident that her guidance will help us reach our full potential.”

The addition of Warlick to the coaching staff is seen as a significant boost for the Lady Vols, injecting a renewed sense of energy and optimism into the program. Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming season, hoping that Warlick’s return will propel the team to greater heights. The Lady Vols’ journey back to national prominence is underway, and with Warlick’s guidance, the future looks bright.
