Recruiting update: Four-star defensive line commits from LSU
LSU football lost a commitment on Monday. Four-star defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy opened his commitment up, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.
The Mississippi native committed to LSU on Jan. 2.
Per the On3 Industry Rankings, McCoy is the No. 124 ranked recruit in the class of 2026. On3, 247Sports, and ESPN all rank McCoy as the No. 6 recruit in the state of Mississippi. On3 and ESPN rank McCoy top 10 at his position.
LSU will remain involved in McCoy’s recruitment, but for now, it’s a loss. The Tigers will have a tough battle for McCoy’s services. The On3 Prediction Machine considers Ole Miss the heavy favorite.
LSU remains in a good spot when it comes to defensive tackles. It’s a good year for defensive linemen in the state of Louisiana with Richard Anderson and Dylan Berymon both projecting as top recruits. Anderson is already committed to LSU and the Tigers are hoping Berymon joins the fold.
LSU’s 2026 class now sits with five commitments. The class ranks No. 7 in the country. Anderson is the top-ranked of the bunch, sitting No. 25 overall in Rivals’ rankings.
