Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith responds to big-money offer that would keep him away from Buckeyes

Smith received an offer exceeding $4.5 million to enter the transfer portal

Ohio State’s standout wide receiver Jeremiah Smith put to rest rumors of a potential transfer after speculation surfaced regarding a massive NIL offer. Reports suggested Smith had received an offer exceeding $4.5 million to enter the transfer portal, but his response to a fan on X may have made his stance clear.

Smith’s apparent contentment with Ohio State extends beyond the field, as his social media activity reinforces his dedication to the program. The star receiver has shown no signs of discontent, and his contributions during his freshman campaign speak volumes about his connection to the team.

“Ain’t gonna happen, that family is too loyal good try tho,” a fan wrote on X to which Smith responded with a 100 emoji.

Smith’s record-breaking freshman season

In his first year with the Buckeyes, Smith delivered a historic performance. The former No. 1 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class lived up to every ounce of the hype. He hauled in 76 receptions for 1,315 yards and 15 touchdowns, playing a pivotal role in leading Ohio State to its first national championship since 2014 and its ninth overall.

Smith didn’t just shine in the regular season-he elevated his game on the biggest stage. Across four College Football Playoff games, he recorded 19 catches for 381 yards and five touchdowns, cementing his reputation as a generational talent.

With numbers like these, it’s no surprise Smith’s NIL valuation is climbing. Currently listed with a $4 million valuation by On3, Smith’s earning potential will likely increase as he continues to dominate on the field.

Despite the allure of a reported $4.5 million NIL offer to transfer, Smith appears fully committed to Ohio State. When responding to a fan’s speculation online, his words left no room for doubt.

This decision not only reflects his loyalty to the Buckeyes but also highlights his belief in what the program has to offer.
