Saquon Barkley Pledges $3 Million to Support Penn State Football Program

Former Penn State football star and current Philadelphia Eagles running back, Saquon Barkley, has made a remarkable $3 million donation to support the university’s football program. The generous contribution underscores Barkley’s continued commitment to his alma mater, where he became one of the most celebrated players in Nittany Lions history.

Barkley, who played at Penn State from 2015 to 2017, revealed the pledge as part of his ongoing efforts to give back to the program that helped shape his professional career. “Penn State gave me the opportunity to grow both as a player and as a person,” Barkley said. “I want to help ensure that future generations of student-athletes have the same opportunities to succeed, both on and off the field.”

The donation will be directed towards key areas such as player development, upgrades to athletic facilities, and recruitment initiatives. Penn State Athletics Director Patrick Kraft praised Barkley’s generosity, calling the donation “transformative” for the football program’s future.

“Saquon is one of the greatest athletes to ever wear the blue and white, and this gift is a testament to his deep connection to the university,” Kraft said. “It will have a lasting impact, helping us attract top talent and provide our student-athletes with the resources they need to succeed.”

Barkley, who was selected second overall in the 2018 NFL Draft by the New York Giants and now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles, is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s premier running backs. His time at Penn State, where he earned unanimous All-American honors, remains a defining chapter of his career.

This $3 million pledge stands as one of the largest donations ever made by a former player to the Penn State football program, further solidifying Barkley’s lasting legacy and his dedication to the team’s ongoing success.
