Texas Longhorns Star Jaydon Blue to Leave Football Program Due to Family Decisions

Austin, TX – Texas Longhorns running back Jaydon Blue has announced that he will be leaving the football program, citing “family decisions” as the reason for his departure. The news comes as a surprise to fans, as Blue was considered a key player for the Longhorns’ offense moving forward.

Blue, a highly touted recruit from Klein Cain High School in Houston, Texas, committed to the Longhorns as part of their 2022 recruiting class. Despite being one of the top running back prospects in the nation, he had limited action in his freshman season, appearing in just a few games. However, he was expected to play a larger role for Texas in the coming years, especially with the team losing some key offensive players to the NFL.

In a statement released on social media, Blue expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play for the Longhorns and acknowledged the support he had received from coaches, teammates, and fans during his time in Austin. “This decision was not easy, but my family’s well-being and future are my top priorities right now,” Blue wrote. “I am forever grateful for the support of the Texas coaching staff and everyone who has helped me along the way.”

While the specifics of Blue’s family-related decision remain private, it is clear that this is a personal matter. The running back’s departure leaves a notable hole in Texas’ backfield, but the program still boasts a talented roster with players like Jonathan Brooks and Cedric Baxter Jr. ready to step up.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian expressed understanding of Blue’s decision, saying, “We fully support Jaydon and his decision to focus on his family. We wish him the best moving forward and appreciate his time with us.”

The Longhorns are expected to move forward with their preparations for the 2025 season, where they aim to compete for a College Football Playoff spot.
