BYU Cougars football star Therrian Alexander III has announced his decision to leave the program, citing a lack of playing time as the primary reason for his departure. The talented wide receiver, who joined BYU as a highly regarded recruit, made the announcement earlier this week, shocking both fans and teammates alike.

Alexander, who was known for his speed and playmaking ability, struggled to secure a prominent role in the Cougars’ offense throughout his tenure. Despite being a standout during his high school career, where he earned All-State honors and impressed scouts with his athleticism, he found it difficult to break into a competitive wide receiver corps at BYU.

“I have decided to step away from the program and explore new opportunities,” Alexander said in a statement. “I’ve put in the work, but unfortunately, I just wasn’t able to get the playing time I was hoping for. I’m grateful for the support of my coaches, teammates, and the BYU community, but I feel it’s time for me to move on.”

During his time with the Cougars, Alexander showed flashes of his potential, especially in practice. However, he often found himself behind a deep group of experienced receivers, limiting his opportunities to contribute in live game situations.

The decision has left a gap in BYU’s receiving unit, but the coaching staff has expressed confidence in the remaining players, as well as in the incoming recruits. Head coach Kalani Sitake acknowledged Alexander’s decision, stating, “We appreciate Therrian’s contributions to the program, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Alexander has not yet specified where he plans to continue his collegiate career, but his talent has drawn attention from other programs who are eager to add him to their roster. As the transfer portal remains active, it’s expected that he will explore potential opportunities in the coming weeks.
