Chris Klieman Signs New Contract Extension Through 2031 with $50 Million Deal

On January 14, Kansas State University officially announced that head football coach Chris Klieman has signed a new contract extension, securing his position through the 2031 season. The new deal replaces Klieman’s original 2019 contract, which was set to run through 2026. This five-year extension reflects both Klieman’s success at the helm of the program and the university’s commitment to its football future.

Valued at $50 million, the new contract guarantees an average annual salary of $7.5 million, a significant increase from his previous agreement. This adjustment places Klieman among the highest-paid coaches in college football and acknowledges the strides the Wildcats have made under his leadership.

Since Klieman took over in 2019, Kansas State football has seen remarkable progress. The Wildcats won the Big 12 Championship in 2022, a crowning achievement that further solidified Klieman’s reputation as one of the conference’s premier coaches. Beyond the title, his ability to recruit top talent, develop players, and consistently compete in the competitive Big 12 has been crucial to the program’s growth.

Kansas State athletic director Gene Taylor expressed confidence in Klieman’s leadership and vision for the future. “Chris has transformed our program and continues to raise the bar year after year,” said Taylor. “This extension reflects our commitment to long-term success and our belief in Chris as the right leader to take us to even greater heights.”

With the new deal in place, Klieman will have the stability and resources needed to continue building a competitive team. The contract ensures that Kansas State football remains a force in the Big 12 for years to come, with expectations high for continued excellence under Klieman’s guidance.
