Two Swimmers Missing After Morning Session at Indiana University
BLOOMINGTON, IN — The Indiana University swimming community was left shaken today following the unexplained disappearance of two swimmers after the morning training session. As the 2023-24 season gets underway, the incident has raised significant concern within both the men’s and women’s programs, which are under the guidance of veteran coach Ray Looze.
Looze, entering his 19th year as head coach for both the men’s and women’s teams, is widely respected for his leadership and success. He is in his 22nd year with the men’s program, where he has made a tremendous impact over the years. However, the excitement of the new season has been overshadowed by the sudden disappearance of two athletes, who were last seen following the morning session at the IU Natatorium.
According to officials, the two swimmers, whose identities have not yet been released, were reported missing after a routine check-in. Team staff immediately initiated a search and contacted local authorities. University officials confirmed that all available resources are being used to locate the missing athletes, and they have promised updates as soon as more information becomes available.
“The safety of our athletes is our top priority. We are working closely with local authorities to ensure a swift resolution to this matter,” said Looze in a statement.
The missing swimmers’ teammates have been provided with support and counseling, as many are understandably shaken by the events. The team is now awaiting further instructions as the search efforts intensify.
As of now, there are no indications of foul play, but the situation remains under investigation. Fans, fellow swimmers, and the IU community are holding out hope for the safe return of the two athletes. Updates on the search are expected in the coming hours.
