Five-Star Combo Guard Plans On Visiting Tennessee Basketball Later This Month
Five-star combo guard Brayden Burries plans on officially visiting Tennessee basketball later this month, a trusted source told RTI on Tuesday afternoon. Burries will visit Tennessee on Tuesday, Jan. 23 when the Vols host Mississippi State in a critical SEC matchup.
Burries ranks as a five-star recruit and the No. 11 player in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to the 247sports composite rankings. A San Bernandino native, Burries also ranks as the No. 2 combo guard and the No. 2 player in the state of California in his recruiting class.
While Burries is from California, he does have a tie to Tennessee. His mother is a former Tennessee softball player.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound guard is considering a number of teams far from his Southern California home. Burries took official visits to Alabama, SMU and Oregon this fall though he did take an unofficial visit to USC. The blue-chip recruit also took an unofficial visit to Arizona in the fall after taking his official visit to Arizona last February.
Tennessee has long been recruiting Burries but has been biding its time on bringing him in for an official visit. After original plans to host Burries in October and then December, the five-star plans on coming in January. The Vols could potentially be the last time to host Burries on a visit before hie announces his commitment.
This is an incredibly important recruiting class for Rick Barnes and Tennessee basketball due to the high number of scholarships that they have available. The Vols have eight scholarships to work with in the 2025 recruiting cycle. They started the season with two scholarship spots unfilled. Cam Carr leaving the program made it three for the spring semester.

The Vols signed a pair of four-star recruits back in November in wing Amari Jefferson and center DeWayne Brown. Tennessee is also working to land five-star wing Nate Ament ad well as Burries.
Rick Barnes and his staff have also been linked to four-star point guard and former Virginia commit Chance Mallory but the undersized point guard has yet to visit Tennessee. The Vols did host three-star point guard Zyree Collins on a visit for their win over Arkansas last weekend.
