Iowa State Cyclones Head Coach Matt Campbell has officially requested that the North American Collegiate Conference (NACC) take action to reduce the number of Kansas Wildcats football fans attending their upcoming match at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, Iowa. The request, which was made earlier this week, stems from growing concerns regarding crowd management, security, and fan behavior during previous games between the two teams.

Campbell, in a statement, emphasized that while he welcomes all fans to enjoy college football, the increasing number of opposing team supporters in recent games has led to a tense atmosphere that could potentially disrupt the safety and experience of Iowa State fans. The request specifically asks the NACC to limit the Kansas Wildcats fan allocation for the match, which is scheduled to take place later this month.

The rivalry between the Cyclones and Wildcats has heated up over the past few seasons, with both teams experiencing moments of dominance in the Big 12 Conference. This heightened intensity has resulted in large numbers of traveling fans, with some games featuring significant sections of the stadium filled with Wildcats supporters.

In his request to the NACC, Campbell cited a series of incidents in previous encounters where the behavior of some visiting fans, including altercations and disruptive conduct, posed challenges for stadium security. The head coach has urged the conference to work with both teams to ensure that the game proceeds smoothly, fostering a positive environment for all attendees.

The NACC has yet to officially respond to Campbell’s request. However, sources within the conference have hinted that discussions are underway, and that they are considering various measures to address crowd-related issues at high-profile games. The upcoming Cyclones-Wildcats matchup is expected to be one of the season’s most anticipated contests, drawing significant attention from fans and media alike.
