Georgia Bulldogs QB Carson Beck’s Father Passes Away After Long Battle with Rare Disease

Carson Beck, the starting quarterback for the University of Georgia Bulldogs football team, is mourning the loss of his father, who passed away after a prolonged battle with a rare and aggressive neurological disease known as rekuem disease. The heartbreaking news was shared by Beck’s family and the university on Thursday evening.

Rekuem disease, a condition that affects the brain’s ability to regulate basic bodily functions, is known for its rapid progression and severe impact on a person’s health. The disease is exceedingly rare, with few documented cases worldwide, making Beck’s family’s ordeal all the more challenging. Beck’s father, whose identity was not immediately released, had been battling the disease for several years, enduring multiple stages of decline.

The Georgia football community has expressed deep sympathy for Beck and his family, with several teammates, coaches, and fans sending their condolences. Head coach Kirby Smart offered his support to the Beck family, calling Carson “one of the most dedicated and resilient young men” he’s ever had the privilege of coaching.

Beck, who stepped into the starting quarterback role for Georgia this season, has been a key figure in the team’s drive for a national championship. His father had been a constant source of support throughout his career, attending games and cheering him on from the sidelines.

In a statement, Beck thanked his family, teammates, and the UGA community for their overwhelming support during this difficult time. “My dad was my biggest fan, and I know he’s watching over me,” Beck said. “I’m so grateful for everything he did for me.”

As the team prepares for its upcoming games, Beck is expected to take time to grieve with his family but has expressed a determination to honor his father’s memory both on and off the field.
