Five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., a highly sought-after prospect from Ohio, has made waves in the college football recruiting world by officially committing to the University of Tennessee. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound athlete had previously been committed to Ohio State but has decided to make a shift in his future plans, signing with the Vols after a whirlwind recruitment process.

Henry, who plays for Centerville High School, has long been regarded as one of the top wide receiver recruits in the 2024 class. Known for his combination of size, speed, and elite route-running, Henry has the physical tools to make an immediate impact at the collegiate level. His decision to join Tennessee comes after a period of intense speculation, with both Ohio State and Tennessee vying for his services. In the end, Henry chose the Vols, citing the team’s strong coaching staff and his belief in Tennessee’s ability to develop him into a future NFL talent.

Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel, known for his high-powered offense, has made it clear that he envisions Henry as a key piece of the Vols’ offense moving forward. The commitment adds to a stellar recruiting class for Tennessee, which has made significant strides in recent years under Heupel’s leadership.

Henry’s decision also marks a shift in the recruiting landscape for both programs. Ohio State had long been a favorite for Henry, but the Vols’ pitch of a dynamic offensive system and a chance to play early in his career ultimately won out. As Tennessee looks to continue its rise as a College Football Playoff contender, the addition of Henry gives them a dynamic weapon at wide receiver for the future.

With the commitment, Tennessee fans are excited about the prospect of Henry lighting up Neyland Stadium in the years to come, continuing the momentum that the Vols have been building under Heupel’s direction.
