Arsenal Captain Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka Facing Injury Setbacks for 2024/2025 Season
In a major blow to Arsenal’s 2024/2025 season, the club has confirmed that both captain Martin Ødegaard and star winger Bukayo Saka will be sidelined for an extended period due to injuries. The news has sent shockwaves through the Arsenal fanbase, as both players have been central to the team’s success in recent seasons.
Ødegaard, who has been a driving force in midfield, picked up a knee injury during a recent international break with Norway. Initial scans revealed significant ligament damage, which will require surgery. The 25-year-old playmaker is expected to be out for at least four to six months, meaning he could miss a significant portion of the season, including key fixtures in both the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka, who has been instrumental on the wing for both club and country, suffered an ankle injury in a Champions League match. Although the injury is not as severe as Ødegaard’s, Saka will be sidelined for the next 6-8 weeks. This means the 22-year-old will miss crucial league games, including the highly anticipated North London derby and several other competitive fixtures in the first half of the season.
Manager Mikel Arteta expressed his disappointment over the injuries but remains optimistic that his squad can adapt in the absence of two of their most influential players. “It’s devastating for Martin and Bukayo, and for us as a team. They are both key to what we do, but we have a deep squad, and this is an opportunity for others to step up,” Arteta said in a statement.
Arsenal fans will hope that Ødegaard and Saka can return to action sooner than expected, as the team faces a tough test in their bid to remain competitive across all competitions.
