Alabama Crimson Tide Head Coach Kalen DeBoer to Miss One Month Due to Medical Leave
Tuscaloosa, AL — Alabama Crimson Tide football head coach Kalen DeBoer will be taking a medical leave of absence for at least one month, the university confirmed on Sunday. DeBoer, who took over the program earlier this year, will step away from team activities to focus on his health, leaving a temporary gap in leadership.
The announcement came in a statement released by Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne, who praised DeBoer’s dedication to the team but emphasized the importance of his recovery. “Kalen’s health and well-being are our top priority,” Byrne said. “We fully support his decision to step back and take the time needed to focus on his recovery. DeBoer, 47, has experienced success in his brief tenure as head coach of the Crimson Tide, leading the team to a 7-2 record thus far this season. Under his guidance, Alabama has displayed impressive offensive play, a key improvement from previous years. In the meantime, defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt will take over as interim head coach.
