McKenzie Milton Hired as New Head Coach of Navy Football Team

The United States Naval Academy has officially named McKenzie Milton as the new head coach of the Navy football team. Milton, who enjoyed a remarkable college football career as a quarterback, takes over from the retiring Ken Niumatalolo, who had led the Midshipmen for 15 seasons.

Milton’s appointment marks a new chapter for Navy football. The 26-year-old, known for his resilience and leadership, is widely recognized for his incredible recovery from a devastating knee injury that nearly ended his career. A former star at the University of Central Florida (UCF), Milton guided the Knights to an undefeated season in 2017 and was a key figure in their historic run. Despite the setback of a gruesome injury in 2018, he made an inspiring return to the field, showcasing his determination and work ethic.

Milton’s background as both a player and an assistant coach positions him well to lead the Navy program. He has spent the last few years as an offensive coordinator, focusing on developing dynamic strategies that blend traditional football with innovative tactics. His expertise in offensive schemes, particularly in the air attack, is expected to provide a fresh perspective to the Navy’s option-heavy offense.

In his first statement as head coach, Milton emphasized his commitment to excellence, discipline, and leadership, values that align with the core principles of the Naval Academy. “It’s an honor to serve as the head coach of Navy football. I’m excited to help shape young men into leaders both on and off the field,” Milton said.

The Navy Midshipmen have experienced a challenging stretch in recent seasons, and Milton’s appointment signals a renewed effort to return the program to national prominence. Fans and alumni are hopeful that his dynamic coaching style and leadership will restore Navy football to its former glory.
