Virginia Tech Football Announces Two Departures from Team

Virginia Tech football has officially announced the departure of two key players from the program, marking a significant shift for the Hokies as they look to restructure for the future. The announcement was made on Friday, confirming that both wide receiver Da’Quan Felton and defensive lineman Michael Collins have decided to leave the team.

Felton, a sophomore wide receiver, had shown promise during his time at Virginia Tech. However, after limited playing time this season, he opted to step away from the program in search of new opportunities. While his departure leaves a gap in the Hokies’ receiving corps, the team remains hopeful that younger players will emerge to fill the void. Felton had been a highly regarded recruit, but his departure is seen as part of the team’s ongoing adjustments under head coach Brent Pry.

Defensive lineman Michael Collins, a junior, had also struggled to secure consistent playing time this season. Collins, who had shown flashes of potential in the past, will leave the program to explore other options. His exit further underscores the Hokies’ ongoing efforts to rebuild and develop depth across their roster. The defensive line, an area of concern for the team, will now have to contend with additional turnover as they look to regroup for future seasons.

Head coach Brent Pry addressed the departures, expressing his understanding and support for the players’ decisions. “We appreciate Da’Quan and Michael’s contributions to the program,” Pry said in a statement. “While we are sorry to see them go, we respect their choices and wish them the best in their next chapters.”

The Hokies are now focused on closing out their current season and continuing to build a competitive team for the future, with a particular emphasis on player development and recruitment.
