Curt Cignetti Suspends Two Players Following Fight

Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) football head coach Curt Cignetti has announced the suspension of two players, quarterback Kurtis Rourke and wide receiver Tayven Jackson, after an altercation that took place during practice. The fight, which occurred earlier this week, prompted immediate action from the coaching staff to maintain discipline and team unity.

Details surrounding the incident remain scarce, but sources close to the team indicated that the altercation began during a high-intensity drill, escalating quickly between the two players. Coach Cignetti, known for his strict approach to team behavior, responded swiftly to address the situation and reinforce the standards of conduct within the program.

“We have a set of expectations here at IUP, and we will not tolerate behavior that disrupts our team environment,” Cignetti stated in a brief press release. “Both Kurtis and Tayven are talented individuals with bright futures, but they must learn the importance of accountability and professionalism on and off the field.”

Rourke, a redshirt sophomore, has been a key player in IUP’s offense, known for his strong arm and leadership. Jackson, a rising sophomore, had been gaining attention for his impressive work as a wide receiver, showing promise as a key target for the team’s passing game.

Both players will miss upcoming practices and may be subject to additional disciplinary measures depending on the outcome of internal reviews. The suspension is seen as a message to the rest of the team about the importance of discipline and respect within the program.

IUP fans and the wider football community will be watching closely to see how the suspension affects both players and the team as a whole as the season progresses.
