UC Davis Football Star Lan Larison Faces Career-Ending Injury

UC Davis Aggies football star Lan Larison’s promising career is in jeopardy after suffering a potentially career-ending injury during Saturday’s home game against Cal Poly. The senior running back, who has been the cornerstone of the Aggies’ offense this season, was forced to leave the field in the second quarter after sustaining a serious knee injury during a routine run.

Larison, who has been a key contributor for UC Davis since transferring from a junior college two years ago, was on track for a record-breaking season. With over 1,200 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns already this year, he had garnered attention as one of the top running backs in the Big Sky Conference and was expected to be a top prospect in next year’s NFL Draft.

According to head coach Tim Plough, Larison’s injury is “severe,” though further tests, including an MRI, will determine the full extent of the damage. Initial reports suggest it could be an ACL tear, which would require surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation process. If confirmed, this would likely end Larison’s season and could impact his professional prospects, as recovery from such an injury typically takes months.

“This is a devastating blow for Lan, not only as a player but as a person,” Hawkins said in a statement. “He’s been a leader in our locker room, and his work ethic and dedication have set an example for the entire team. We’ll support him through every step of the recovery process.”

Larison’s injury is a significant setback for the Aggies, who are still in contention for a playoff berth in the Big Sky Conference. Despite the uncertainty surrounding Larison’s future, his teammates are rallying around him, vowing to finish the season strong in honor of their fallen star.
