Local Resident Enjoys First Swim in Newly Built 25m Pool, But Discovers Alarming Issues

A local resident, Jane Thompson, was among the first to take a plunge into the newly constructed 25-meter community swimming pool in Riverside Park, celebrating its long-awaited opening. However, her excitement quickly turned to concern when she encountered a series of problems that may impact the safety and quality of the facility.

Thompson, who has been eagerly awaiting the pool’s completion, noticed that the water temperature was unusually cold, despite the pool being equipped with a modern heating system. “It felt like swimming in an ice bath,” Thompson remarked. “I can’t imagine how uncomfortable it must be for children or elderly swimmers.”

Upon further inspection, several other swimmers raised concerns about the pool’s water clarity. Some noted a murky appearance, which made it difficult to see the pool’s floor clearly. “It doesn’t seem right. The water should be crystal clear, not cloudy,” said another local resident, Mark Williams.

In addition to water quality issues, Thompson discovered cracks along the pool’s edge, visible in the shallow end. “It’s alarming to think that this pool, just months after opening, already has visible damage. What happens if it gets worse?” she asked.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department, responsible for the pool’s construction, has acknowledged the concerns. A spokesperson stated, “We are aware of the temperature and water quality issues and are working with the contractors to address them immediately. The cracks will also be assessed by structural engineers to ensure they do not pose a safety hazard.”

Despite the issues, the pool remains open to the public, with authorities promising to resolve the problems as quickly as possible. Meanwhile, residents like Thompson hope these setbacks don’t overshadow the facility’s potential as a community asset.
