Billy Corgan Addresses NWA’s Future and Sends Messages to Adam Pearce and Shane Douglas
The NWA is entering a new phase as its Powerrr program begins airing on X over the next five weeks. This shift follows the removal of NWA content from The CW app, with September 30th marking the final day of availability. The content being rolled out on X includes matches and moments from the NWA’s 76th Anniversary show, which took place in late August.
Kicking off the first episode on X was none other than NWA owner Billy Corgan. During his speech, Corgan reflected on the rich history of the organization and issued an open invitation to current WWE Raw General Manager and five-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Adam Pearce. Corgan made it clear that Pearce is welcome to return to the NWA ring whenever he’s ready, leaving the door wide open for the former champion to revisit his roots.
Corgan also mentioned extending an invitation to another legendary figure, Shane Douglas. In a candid revelation, Corgan shared that he invited Douglas to the taping, but Douglas declined. Corgan referenced the infamous moment at the 2300 Arena in 1994 when Douglas threw away the NWA Title, a moment that forever altered the landscape of professional wrestling. Corgan expressed his disappointment, saying that although the ring is always open to Douglas, he believes the former champion should have faced the people after all these years.
To close his message, Corgan offered a defiant stance on the future of the NWA. “As long as I own the organization, we are not going anywhere. If someone wants to take it from me, they’ll have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands,” Corgan proclaimed, underscoring his unwavering commitment to the future of the NWA.
