Congratulations are in order for Frances Bean Cobain and her husband, Riley Hawk, who have welcomed their first child together.
Frances, the daughter of the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, shared on Instagram on Saturday (Sept. 28) that she and Riley, the son of skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, are now parents to a baby boy.
“Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk,” Frances, 32, wrote alongside sweet black-and-white photos of the newborn, announcing his birth on Sept. 17. “Welcome to the world, our beautiful son. We love you more than anything.”
In the first photo, the baby is seen holding his mother’s hand, while another shows Riley, 31, holding his son wrapped in a soft blanket.
Friends and family flooded the comments of Frances’ post with congratulations and well-wishes. New grandfather Tony Hawk humorously commented, “My favorite grandson!” Meanwhile, Harper Grohl, daughter of Kurt’s former bandmate Dave Grohl, responded with heart and teary-eyed emojis.
The post also received heartfelt comments from musicians like Michael Stipe of R.E.M., who is Frances’ godfather, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, and Amanda Palmer of Dresden Dolls. Stipe wrote, “With all the love and energy in the world,” while Gordon added, “Huge congratulations!” Palmer enthusiastically commented, “Oh my god!!! MAZEL TOV to all of you. So incredibly happy to see this news. All the love to you.”
Frances and Riley’s relationship became public in 2022, and they tied the knot about a year later in a private ceremony officiated by Stipe.
