Hoosier National Forest Manager Missing in the Wilderness

*Hoosier National Forest, IN* — The search is underway for the Hoosier National Forest manager, Tom Reynolds, who has been reported missing after a routine patrol on Wednesday. Colleagues last saw him near the Hemlock Cliffs area, where he was conducting assessments of the forest’s recent storm damage.

Reynolds, known for his dedication to conservation and community engagement, did not return as scheduled, prompting concerns from his team. Park rangers and local law enforcement initiated a search operation early Thursday morning, deploying drones and search dogs to cover the expansive wooded terrain.

“We are deeply worried for Tom’s safety,” said Deputy Forest Supervisor Karen Myers. “He’s an experienced outdoor professional, but the conditions in the forest can be unpredictable.”

Reynolds is described as an avid hiker with a thorough knowledge of the area, making his disappearance all the more alarming. Friends and family have been notified, and they are currently coordinating efforts with the search teams.

As of now, there have been no clues regarding his whereabouts. The community is urged to report any sightings or information that might assist in locating him.

The search will continue throughout the weekend, with volunteers from local organizations joining the efforts. Forest officials are hopeful for a positive outcome, emphasizing the need for caution in the wilderness during this time.
