Bayern Munich could insert mammoth €150m release clause for Real Madrid target

Real Madrid have been steadfast in their pursuit of Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies this summer.

The reigning Spanish and European champions wish to sign the 23-year-old Canadian whose contract expires in 2025. However, they intend to do so only for a fair price and not end up paying over the top.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich are continuing to push the defender to consider signing a new contract at the club and are not giving up without a fight.

€150 million release clause for Davies?

Now, BILD (h/t Mundo Deportivo) reports that Bayern Munich are growing confident about their chances of retaining Alphonso Davies and convincing him to sign a new contract.

At the moment, the Canadian international has not accepted the German club’s renewal offers, but now all that could change.

According to the report, Davies’ agent would accept a renewal, but with a release clause of €150 million, which is what a club, like Real Madrid, would have to pay if they wanted to sign the full-back.

As those negotiations continue, the player’s salary is a big issue. Davies is asking for €20 million per season, although now in Germany they are talking about €16 million, but Bayern are giving him a maximum of €13 million.

What is very clear to the Bavarian giants is that Davies will not leave this summer and they are confident that he will end up renewing his contract. If that doesn’t happen, Bayern risk the winger leaving on a free next year.

Real Madrid, for their part, are keeping a close eye on everything that is happening in Munich with the full-back, who is in their plans, but they do not want to do anything crazy financially to sign him.

With Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia already at the club, Real Madrid are not pressed to sign Davies as a priority and as such will not do anything extraordinary to close the deal.
