JETT LAWRENCE SHOULDER: “FOR HOW SLOW IT’S TAKEN TO HEAL, WE MIGHT GET AN MRI OR SOMETHING.”
It seemed like Jett Lawrence was well on his way to getting back to 100% after winning the Thunder Valley National the previous weekend following a significant crash at Hangtown. However, his shoulder, which was one of the injuries on his list back then, hasn’t gotten much better.
“We have been talking about the nature of the injury,” stated Lawrence during the press conference following the race. We initially believed it might be bruising or something similar, or that the muscle had just been pulled, but given how slowly the injury has healed, we may need to get an MRI or something. We’re not exactly sure what it is; it might be torn or something. We’re going to schedule an MRI during one of these breaks, or perhaps even after this one.
simply because we’re not entirely certain what it is. We had hoped that this break would help, but every time I use the train, I return to the same location. I would then recover and then start to decline. That’s been a little annoying, then. But we still prevailed overall, so no excuses. However, if I was 100%, that would definitely make things easier.”
Since Hangtown, Lawrence has won three straight races overall. He has also closed the points difference between himself and his brother Hunter to three, and he is currently tied for second place with Chase Sexton.
At Southwick, he was questioned about whispers that nagging injuries from Hangtown might still be a problem.
“It’s not as much as I had anticipated, but I believe your body overcompensates on the other half because it knows that’s where it’s weakest,” he said. “I was simply using my legs a lot more than normal, which caused them to become extremely tired. We’ll go back and work even harder, though.
