Broncos’ Sean Payton Gets Eye Surgery After Calling Wrong Play Last Season
According to Mike Klis of 9News, Sean Payton had cataract surgery on his left eye last week and is scheduled to have the same procedure on his right eye on Wednesday.
The cause? He eventually got to the point last season where he misread his call sheet due to deteriorating eyesight.
On January 9, Payton told reporters, “I want to get my eyes fixed so I call the right play and I don’t mess up and call the wrong play on a play that happened once this year.” “It was embarrassing,”
Any sports fan worth their salt will tell you that every official and umpire on the globe ought to undergo the same kind of surgery. But we’re getting off topic.
After the Denver Broncos finished just 8-9 in his first season with the team, 60-year-old Payton will be hoping for a strong return. Rookie Bo Nix will start for him at quarterback, taking the place of the cut Russell Wilson and his NFL-high dead cap hit.
