Cate Blanchett shares rare insight into married life with director husband Andrew Upton

The Australian actor and director Andrew Upton are parents to four children.

One of the most talented and prosperous movie stars of her generation, Cate Blanchett has played roles in roles ranging from an elf queen to Queen Elizabeth I. However, the actress went back to her native Australia for her most recent role, working alongside her husband in the Outback.

In the 1940s Australian drama The New Boy, the star portrays a rebellious nun. The narrative narrates the tale of a nine-year-old Aboriginal orphan who finds herself in charge of a remote monastery in the dead of night. Co-producers of the film, Cate, 54, and her 58-year-old husband Andrew Upton, a theatre director, collaborated closely on the shoot. Despite having four children with her spouse, whom she married in 1997, she felt no guilt about spending a lot of time with them.

“We find that it works for us, even though initially people were shocked and asked how two people could be together all the time,” she says. We do disagree, but our disagreements are productive and lead to interesting ideas. However, we have always collaborated. Since we’ve been married for a while, something must be working.”
